My Name Is Trauma is an excellent resource for anyone (of any age) who has experienced trauma or is living in situations creating prolonged and exaggerated stress. Simple, yet powerful illustrations and words capture the body’s experience of trauma while educating and normalizing the readers’ symptoms and reactions.
— Caelan Soma Chief Clinical Officer, Starr Commonwealth, The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children

As a trauma informed care advocate, a registered nurse, and as someone who has experienced trauma, “My Name is Trauma” is an incredible resource for children and adults a like. Not only does it do a great job of explaining how traumatic experiences can impact our bodies in a child friendly way, it also reminds us to celebrate our strengths (and our awesome!) despite whatever obstacles we have had to overcome. I only wish I had read this book myself as a youth.
— Agnes Chen / instagram: @starling_community “Like Starlings, we gather and connect so that ALL kids can RISE resilient."

This book has been an amazing help for my 6 year old son who witnessed his daddy have a stroke at age 4. The first time we read My Name is Trauma, he responded with “that’s like me”, at every page. We finally found a book that showed exactly how he was feeling as well as explaining to him that sometimes the people around you don’t know what’s going on when your trauma tiger is awake. The best part of the book is definitely the ending, the knowledge for him that we can all control our tiger with time.
— R. McKay

My Name is Trauma describes trauma and the ways it can affect us. Trauma is beautifully, playfully and succinctly described in pictures and words. On reading the book recently an adult client discovered that she is a survivor and her life has changed.”
— Sue, Social Worker/Counsellor

My Name is Trauma (MNIT) was the first big step, not only for my children, but also for me and my staff toward learning to live with what super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) did to us. We are truly grateful. We are no longer victims; we are survivors!
